Lora

Lora Gellerstein was born and raised in Huntington. She has resided in this beautiful North Shore town all of her life, which she loves dearly, and is in the process of raising her two sons here. After graduating from Huntington High School, Lora attended Plattsburgh State University. She returned home in 1985 to begin working in New York City as a microcomputer technology assistant for the Big 8 Accounting Firm of Coopers and Lybrand.

Lora met and married her husband and went to work for his family business in Brooklyn as an office manager. Eventually, they moved to Huntington. Lora became a stay-at-home mom and continued to write. When economics dictated that Lora return to work, she found a job with the Huntington School District, initially as a clerk typist, and finally took the position of account clerk. Her favorite job with the school district was in the Finley Middle School library. It was there that she decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a school librarian and author. Lora left her job to attend SUNY Old Westbury part time. Her long-term goals include obtaining a Bachelor's in English, a Master's in Information Transfers/Library Science and pursuing her writing ambitions.

Lora enjoys many extracurricular activities including being a Tiger den mother, religious education teacher, PTA volunteer and an active Democratic committee person for the Huntington Town Democratic Committee. Currently, Lora enjoys working as one of Jon Cooper's Legislative Aides. This job allows her to do what she loves most: read, write and relate to people.
